Shoemakers Museum
Website design
Shoemakers Museum is a new visitor experience opening to the public in September 2025. Celebrating 200 years of shoemaking history through the eyes of the shoemakers, visitors will explore the stories behind Clarks shoes in the place where it all began in Street, Somerset.

the brief
Working as Senior Designer for HdK, a London-based digital marketing and web development agency, Lisa led the design of this engaging and exciting new site. As a brand new museum with no existing assets and therefore no frame of reference, the challenge was to interpret the newly produced brand guidelines to create a design system for the site that made the most of the given colours, fonts and graphic devices. Expanding on the icon set and showcasing the rich archive of photos and video amassed by The Alfred Gillett Trust, the design was developed to give a perfectly responsive experience across all platforms.

the solution
Lisa worked closely with the team at Shoemakers Museum to develop the design and workflow of the site in order to create an exciting experience that will inspire visitors to book tickets as the opening day approaches. Visually, we hope that visiting the site, and ultimately the museum, will deliver a large dose of nostalgia for many as they discover a remarkable collection of over 100,000 objects.
